In the fourth rubber, Joao bested Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in two hours and seven minutes to seal the deal for his country and start a massive celebration with his teammates.

Fonseca had the upper hand in the opening set after an early break. Tsitsipas netted a backhand in the first game and got broken at 15. The home player denied a break point in the third game of the match with a forehand winner.

It gave him a boost and led him toward a break at 15 in game six after a lucky net cord. Stefanos wrapped up the set with a hold at 5-3, introducing a decider and gaining a boost.
They served well early in the final set before Tsitsipas provided a break at 15 at 2-2 for the advantage. The home player secured two holds at love and looked good to seal the deal at 5-3.
Tsitsipas served for the win at 5-4 and missed a routine forehand to suffer a break and lose ground. Fonseca clinched the 11th game after deuces and moved in front, keeping the pressure on the other side.
Stefanos served to stay in the match at 5-6 and got broken for the second straight time after a forced error, suffering a painful defeat and sending Brazil over the top.
