After what may be considered the greatest slate of week one college football games of all time, week two was a bit underwhelming. However, there were still a few upsets and some close calls to keep our interest piqued beyond the Ohio State beatdown of Grambling State. South Florida took down the Florida Gators in a Sunshine State battle. Clemson squeaked by Troy. And of course, Buckeye Nation had to love seeing Oklahoma take Michigan behind the woodshed.
The wins and losses have all been taken into account, so we take a look at who Joel Klatt sees as the top ten teams in the land. The Buckeyes landed in his top spot last week after taking care of then No. 1 Texas. But will Ohio State remain atop the list after facing a much weaker opponent in week two?

No. 10 – Oklahoma Sooners

What we think
Quarterback John Mateer looks like he could be the real deal. After a successful junior year at Washington State, Mateer jumped to Oklahoma, and he’s already making a name for himself. In two games with the Sooners, he’s thrown for over 600 yards and four touchdowns while adding another three scores on the ground. Giving Michigan its first loss of the season is the cherry on top.

The Fighting Irish had a bye week after taking one on the chin to the Hurricanes. Next week will be another tough test when Texas A&M comes to South Bend.

What we think
Yes, the Seminoles beat an FCS team, but it was the way they beat East Texas A&M. Total domination is what you want to see if you’re a Florida State fan, and that’s exactly what they witnessed. The ‘Noles just might be back. Next up for FSU is Mid-American Conference bottom dweller Kent State, so it should be more of the same, at least for one more week.
No. 7 – Miami Hurricanes

What we think
Another beating of an FCS opponent. Now, Miami gets a ranked South Florida team fresh off an upset of the Florida Gators. This will be the first of a three-game set that will round out with Florida and Florida State. I doubt Hurricane fans thought this would be such a tough stretch at the beginning of the season.

What we think
It’s amazing how much better a team can look when facing San Jose State instead of Ohio State. Arch Manning and the Longhorns bounced back, but it wasn’t the dominant performance we would expect from such a loaded roster.

An underwhelming performance against an FCS opponent. The Bulldogs go to Knoxville to face No. 15 Tennessee. If Georgia doesn’t come out with a bit more focus and intensity, Klatt could very well drop them out of his top ten altogether.

The Penn State defense has been as good as advertised, but the offense looks pedestrian. That shouldn’t be the case with as much experience as the Nittany Lions had returning to Happy Valley. They get another crack at a cupcake before Oregon comes to town. Speaking of Oregon…

What we think
Oregon had arguably the best win of week two. After a war of words in the media between Dan Lanning and Mike Gundy, Lanning and the Ducks embarrassed Oklahoma State, beating the Cowboys 69-3. Oregon travels to Evanston to open Big Ten play next week, and it will most likely be more of the same.

What we think
LSU looked pretty average playing Louisiana Tech compared to how they took care of Clemson in week one. We probably would’ve put Oregon ahead of the Tigers based on this week’s performances. LSU welcomes Florida to Death Valley this week.

What we think
The No. 1-ranked team did exactly what the No. 1-ranked team should do. Total domination from beginning to end against a low-level opponent. The Buckeyes get one more easier test next week in Ohio University before heading to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Washington Huskies in late September.
