Chase Elliott on renewed excitement heading into the NASCAR playoffs
NASCAR Cup Series driver Chase Elliott said the regular season can get long and drawn out, making the playoffs something to look forward to.
- A six-car crash occurred late in the NASCAR Kansas race with 52 laps remaining.
- Race leader Denny Hamlin, who was experiencing steering issues, caused the crash after hesitating on a restart.
- Playoff contenders Joey Logano and Austin Cindric were among the drivers involved in the wreck.
The first big crash in the NASCAR Kansas race came late in mid-pack with 52 laps to go when seven cars including two playoff drivers − Joey Logano and Austin Cindric − got stacked up after a restart on Sept. 28.
Logano was in 10th place at the time of the wreck, and Cindric was in 18th.
Others involved in the crash on Turn 1 included Austin Dillon, Noah Gragson, Carson Hocevar, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and A.J. Allmendinger.
The crash ended the Hollywood Casino 400 for Stenhouse and Allmendinger.
Race leader Denny Hamlin helped cause the crash when he hesitated on the restart.
Hamlin was experiencing steering issues. He was not involved in the accident otherwise.
