For a moment, it appeared Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier were heading toward a more friendly relationship.
The once-bitter UFC championship rivals are opposing coaches on ALF Global’s “Alf Reality” series, a reality show similar to the UFC’s “The Ultimate Fighter.” Heading into the show, Jones said in an interview that he was looking forward to competing against Cormier in a different manner and was open to building a friendship after so many years of bad blood.

While Jones claims he went to Thailand with an open mind about Cormier, after filming the show, he says the feeling was not reciprocated.
“Oh, man, what a stuffy, just d*ckhead Cormier really is,” Jones told Red Corner MMA. “I think if you really get to know Daniel Cormier, he’s really not – he’s an asshole. He was an asshole. I mean, he didn’t really connect with any of the fighters here. He’s just an asshole. I tried to make peace with him many times, and he made it very clear that he wants to be enemies for the rest of his life because how lucrative it is, and he’s just a – I don’t know.
“… There was moments where we got to laugh, you know, but for the most part, he’s a d*ckhead. You know, you look at the way that he treats his staff members. He brought like 10 yes men out with him and literally, go get me my water. Where’s my this? Why is that this? He just bosses guys around. You know, in the times we weren’t filming, he wasn’t very sociable with the people on set. He’s just a d*ckhead. I think people that really work with him knows that.”
Cormier shared his side of the story and admitted he can’t ignore the competitive tension between him and Jones. He did say there were moments where things were cordial, but eventually arguments broke out, and talks of competing again in boxing or wrestling arose. Cormier said he would beat Jones 10-0 if they stepped on the wrestling mats for a match.

“Bones” replied to that challenge humbly, but also took shots at Cormier while putting over Gable Steveson, who he has taken under his wing and is training for a championship run in the UFC.
“If I wrestled against Daniel Cormier, it’d be really interesting to see what happened,” Jones said. “I can’t definitively say what would happen in the sport of wrestling, but the one thing I do know is that I made him cry in front of the world. I took him off of the list of being considered one of the greatest fighters of all time.
“He’ll be even lower in the rankings of the greatest heavyweight of all time because my prospect Gable Steveson is going to be three times the champion Daniel Cormier ever was. And so, he’ll just always be in my shadow one way or another.”
