Alex Pereira took a shot at UFC legend Jon Jones, and he got a response.
Pereira, current UFC light heavyweight champion and one of the biggest names in MMA today, has been making the rounds on social media due to him going back to the tire shop he used to work at in Brazil prior to his explosion to fame in UFC. Not only is it a rags-to-riches story that has captivated the MMA world, but “Poatan” made sure to spice things up. He posted a video of a tire that had written, “Jon Jones next” with a hammer next to it that had “Poatan” on it.

This not only got the attention of fans, but also Jones himself.
“I’ve beat a lot of legends from your country, my friend. I know you’d love to avenge the boys, but boy would you be a good one to add to my list. Be careful what you wish for. Chama.”
Friction between Jones and Pereira is nothing new. This is the latest of years of the two publicly showing interest in fighting each other. Talks of a potential bout between the two were at the highest when Jones defended the UFC heavyweight crown against Stipe Miocic in November 2024, and Pereira held the UFC light heavyweight belt. In the end, the highly-anticipated superfight never materialized with Jones vacating his belt and retiring, just to unretire a few months later.

There’s been talk of a potential fight between the two at the UFC’s expected event at The White House in June. Jones claims he’s out of retirement, and Pereira still holds the UFC light heavyweight belt after losing it and re-gaining it in 2025 in a two-fight series with Magomed Ankalaev.
