After putting together a five-fight winning streak from 2019-22, Emmett has gone 1-3 as he reached the elite of the division. … Zalal (17-5-1 MMA, 7-3-1 UFC) has been on fire since returning to the promotion last year for a second chance. Currently riding a seven-fight streak, Zalal, 29, has been perfect in his second UFC stint. His current run in the promotion includes a unanimous decision win voer Calvin Kattar, with submissions of Billy Quarantillo, Jarno Errens and Jack Shore.

Filling out the main card is a potential crossroads at featherweight between Josh Emmett and Youssef Zalal.
I’m happy to see Zalal get another deserved step up in competition, but I’m not sure how sold I am on the Moroccan after contextualizing the status of his opponents on what is his second run in the promotion.
Say what you will about Emmett’s age, but power is the last thing to go, and the 40-year-old has been through murderer’s row in comparison to Zalal as far as resume.
I’m not sure why Emmett is focusing so heavily on his power and cardio this time around (considering that those things were never a problem for him), but I do feel like the American is more lively than the current odds are indicating.
I’ll be rooting for Emmett as this is dog or pass from a betting perspective, but the official pick is Zalal by decision.
