After the split between Juan Carlos Ferrero and Carlos Alcaraz, the public is wondering how dominant the Spaniard will continue to be and whether this will be a serious blow for him.
As one of the most talented tennis players who has been dominating the tennis scene for several years, it is uncertain whether Alcaraz will maintain the same dominance, but Ferrero was certainly an important figure on his path to the very top.
Juan Carlos Ferrero shared his view on the future of Alcaraz in an interview with Radio Nacional de España.
The 45-year-old had only words of praise for Alcaraz, aware that they have achieved a lot of success and that it would be unfair to forget all the great moments.
Ferrero believes that Carlos will not lose and that his competitiveness can be key in the future. Although some believe that Alcaraz may not have a strong motive to dominate the tennis scene and that tennis is a burden for him, Ferrero denies such rumors.
“He won’t lose his way because I know him well and he knows what’s good for him and what isn’t. Carlos loves to compete; he loves playing in tournaments and fighting for big titles, and I don’t see him getting bored with tennis. Maybe in 10 or 12 years, but right now it’s the complete opposite. This situation isn’t ideal heading into the Australian Open, but in terms of tennis skill and talent, he’s more than capable of winning.”- Ferrero said, as quoted by Radio Nacional Espana.
Australian Open
His first Grand Slam of the year is the Australian Open, and whether the Spaniard will make a breakthrough and finally win a trophy at this tournament remains to be seen.
Ferrero isn't worried about whether Alcaraz will adjust to the new situation, although he expects it will take some time for him and his new trainer, Lopez, to build chemistry. However, according to Ferrero, the adaptation process will probably not take long, given that both have the necessary qualities.
