The St. Louis Cardinals announced they acquired left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for cash considerations today.
Bruihl, 28, has appeared in 94 Major League games over a five-year career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, Pittsburgh Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays.
The Petaluma, Calif., native compiled a 2-2 record with a 4.72 ERA tossing 89.2 innings pitched with 69 strikeouts and one save over his career.
In 2025, Bruihl appeared in 15 games with the American League Champion Blue Jays posting a 5.27 ERA from June 18 through the end of the season. He made one postseason appearance in the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees in Game 2.
The 6-foot-2, 215 lb., southpaw was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Dodgers out of California Polytechnic State University in 2017 and was with the organization until 2023 when he was acquired by the Rockies.
Over his five-year career, Bruihl has held opposing left-handed batters to a .224 BA (36-176) with two home runs and only seven extra base hits total over 176 batters faced.
In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Zak Kent was designated for assignment. The Cardinals acquired Kent off waivers from the Guardians on December 5, 2025.
