No. 2 Kahuku 33, Konawaena 7 Sophomore running back Toa Sam rushed for 96 yards and two second-half touchdowns and the Red Raiders (2-1 ) improved to 5-0 all-time on the Big Island with a win over the Wildcats (0-2 ).
Senior safety Madden Soliai, a UCLA commit, returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown for Kahuku, which scored all 19 first-half points on special teams and defense.

Shaden Niu returned a fumble for a touchdown for the Red Raiders, who last played on the Big Island in 2008 when it defeated Kealakehe.
Konawaena quarterback Keenan Alani finished 12-for-24 for 88 yards and threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Max Taetuna-Fautanu in the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats have played in the Division I state final in each of the last three seasons.
Kahuku starting quarterback Matai Fuiava was injured in the first half and did not return to the game.
Backup Troy Mariteragi was 9-for-13 for 83 yards.
Kahuku will next play No. 3 nationally ranked Bishop Gorman on Saturday at home.

No. 6 Mililani 28, Arbor View (Nev.) 20 Damen Nakagawa, a 5-foot-5 junior slotback, caught a 68-yard touchdown pass and finished with 137 receiving yards on six catches to help the Trojans (2-0 ) beat the Aggies (0-1 ), who are ranked second in the state of Nevada behind Bishop Gorman.
Trojans quarterback Kekoa Koong threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Luke VanAntwerp in the fourth quarter to give Mililani a 28-20 lead.
The game was tied 14-14 at halftime and the Trojans led 21-20 late in the third quarter when junior linebacker LJ Jelf intercepted a pass inside the 5-yard line.
Mililani forced Arbor View quarterback Thaddeus Thatcher, a Utah commit, to fumble near the 1-yard line in the fourth quarter to thwart another drive.

Thatcher finished 17-for-27 for 276 yards and a touchdown and rushed for two more scores, but turned the ball over three times.
Koong went 19-for-26 for 254 yards and three touchdowns. Jarius Borges rushed for the other score for Mililani, which has won all four games it has played on the mainland in the last three seasons.
Pac-Five 27, Kalani 3 Elijah Connell-Chavez was a two-way threat in the Wolfpack’s win over the Falcons, scoring on a 65-yard rush and a 94-yard fumble return.
Pac-Five’s Mission Uperesa-Thomas caught five passes for 102 yards from Colton Amai-Nakagawa, two of them for touchdowns. Connell-Chavez covered 166 yards on the ground on 16 carries. Kaisten-Paul Ching led the Falcons with 119 receiving yards on seven receptions.
Pac-Five is 4-0 all-time against Kalani.
