BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Kalen DeBoer expects Tim Keenan III to be back for Alabama football’s SEC opener against Georgia Sept. 28 after missing the Crimson Tide’s first three games with an ankle injury.

But the Crimson Tide coach gave some perspective on how much of Keenan Alabama may see against the Bulldogs.

“There’s a volume increase that has to happen and a progression,” DeBoer said before his appearance at the Monday Morning Quarterback Club Sept. 15. “This week, we’ll keep building on a few of the things he did last week. I don’t know what that will be at this point. Will kind of see based on the progress he makes. I don’t anticipate he’ll be able to go out and just play a full game, maybe at the number of snaps that he would if he was completely healthy.”

Keenan has not appeared in a game for Alabama in 2025.

The redshirt senior captain was the Crimson Tide’s main run stopper at defensive tackle, recording 40 tackles and 8 tackles-for-loss in 2024.

LT Overton injury update: Will Alabama football DE be back?

DeBoer said he expects Alabama defensive end LT Overton to play against Georgia Sept. 28 after leaving the Crimson Tide’s 38-14 win against Wisconsin with an injury.

Overton left the win against the Badgers in the third quarter and initially returned before he was escorted to the locker room at the start of the fourth quarter.

Alabama football has its first off week of 2025 before playing Georgia on the road Sept. 28.
