Kalen DeBoer says he’s staying put.
Alabama’s head coach publicly addressed rumors linking him to the Michigan job this week, suggesting that he’s not interested in any coaching vacancies.
DeBoer is attempting to dismiss the idea that he is considering leaving Tuscaloosa and reiterating his focus on the Crimson Tide amid reports that the school is also working toward a possible contract extension, per On3.

“I have not spoken and have no interest in speaking with anyone else about any other job,” DeBoer said in a statement released through Yea Alabama, the school’s NIL collective. “I am fully committed to this program and look forward to continuing as the head football coach at the University of Alabama.”
DeBoer’s stance aligns with reports that Alabama is already engaged in preliminary talks about an extension.
While nothing has been finalized, it’s worth noting that he is already under contract through December 2031 at a salary north of $10 million annually.

Michigan stunningly fired coach Sherrone Moore with cause last week after the school said he had an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. Moore was later arrested for allegedly breaking into the home of the staff and threatening to kill himself with a butter knife.

The timing of the rumors was notable given Alabama’s current standing in the CFP, where they’ll play Oklahoma on December 19.
In his second season with the Tide, DeBoer guided the program to a 10–3 record, losing in the SEC Championship game to Georgia, 28-7, but reestablishing themselves amongst college football’s elite following a 9-4 down year during DeBoer’s first go-round.

Alabama director of athletics Greg Byrne also discussed DeBoer, showing his admiration for the head coach in a statement on X.
“We are proud to have Coach DeBoer leading our football program at The University of Alabama,” Byrne said. “He is an incredible coach and does an excellent job with the development of our student-athletes, both on and off the field. Just as he is committed to this team, we are committed to him, and we look forward to taking the field Friday in the first round of the College Football Playoff.”
