The Vols recorded their sixth straight win against Georgia basketball on Wednesday.
Tennessee (14-6, 4-3 SEC) defeated Georgia (16-5), 86-85 in overtime, at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Georgia. Two players with Tennessee ties, Kanon Catchings and Blue Cain, competed in the game for the Bulldogs.

Catchings, a sophomore forward, was Georgia’s leading scorer with 22 points. He also totaled seven rebounds and one steal. Catchings, the nephew of former Lady Vol and WNBA all-star Tamika Catchings, converted 8-of-14 field goal attempts, 4-of-8 three-point attempts and 2-of-5 free throw attempts.
Tamika Catchings is one of six Tennessee players to have their jersey numbers retired. She is one of two former Lady Vols to earn All-America honors from the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association four times (1998-2001).
Tamika Catchings played professionally for the Indiana Fever from 2001-16 after being selected third overall in the 2000 WNBA draft. She was the league’s MVP in 2011. Catchings, a 10-time WNBA all-star, was the WNBA Finals MVP in 2012. The former Lady Vol earned WNBA Defensive Player of the Year five times (2005-06, 2009-10, 2012).
Internationally, she was a four-time Olympic gold medalist and is the only Lady Vols’ basketball player to appear in more than two Olympic Games.

Cain, a junior guard, recorded nine points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal for the Bulldogs. He converted 4-of-10 field goal attempts and 1-of-6 three-point attempts.
Cain is a graduate of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla and is a Knoxville, Tennessee native. He played three years at Catholic High School in Knoxville, helping the Fighting Irish win a TSSAA Division II-AA state championship as a freshman during the 2019-20 season.
