Kansas Jayhawks Key to the Season
Start hitting passes again.
The Kansas quarterbacks combined to connect on 64% of their passes in 2023 after completing 65% in 2022. Last year Jalon Daniels wasn’t sharp, however, Kansas went 4-0 when he hit more than 60% of his throws, and 1-7 when he didn’t. Connect on the midrange throws, keep things moving, and everything will be fine.

Kansas Jayhawks Key Player
Laith Marjan, PK Sr.
Fans don’t get too fired up about kickers coming through the transfer portal, but Kansas lost four games by four points or fewer. Marjan should win a game or two for the Jayhawks. Tabor Allen was good last year, hitting 12-of-15 kicks, but Marjan nailed 16-of-17 field goals and 42-of-44 extra points for South Alabama.

Kansas Jayhawks Top Transfer, Biggest Transfer Loss
Top Transfer In: Bangally Kamara, LB Sr.
You wanted a pass rusher, Kansas? The hope is for Kamara to go back to his Pitt form with 120 tackles and five sacks with 12 tackles for loss in four years. Last season, he was only able to play in four games and made one sack at South Carolina.
Top Transfer Out: Keyan Burnett, TE Jr.
It’s hard to lose what you never really had. Burnett is a prototype tight end with all the skills, and he tried to show them all off last season at Arizona with 18 catches. He couldn’t stay healthy, though. He transferred to Kansas, and … transferred right back to Arizona.
Kansas Jayhawks Key Game
Kansas State, Oct. 25
Kansas 52, Kansas State 21 – that happened in 2008. Kansas State pulled off 16 straight in the series ever since. It’s not like the Jayhawks have been rolled – they lost 29-27 last season – but they just can’t beat their rival. They get a week off to prepare for the home game, and it’s a must win with a potentially brutal November to follow.

Kansas Jayhawks 2025 Season Prediction, Win Total, What Will Happen
Again, last year was strange. Kansas wasn’t like its normal self, and it showed in all of those close losses. This time around, those tight battles need to go the other way, and especially early.
The Jayhawks should get by Fresno State and Wagner to start, and with West Virginia, Cincinnati, and at UCF all gettable, they’ll have a base have a strong base of wins to build on.
Here’s the problem. At Missouri, at Texas Tech, at Arizona, at Iowa State, and Oklahoma State and Utah will both be better after an off year.

Sort of like 2023, Kansas will go back to being the team no one wants to deal with, but it won’t be an eight-win regular season like that was. There won’t be any sweating to get bowl eligible, but there will be one too many tough-break losses to keep from being a major player in the Big 12 title chase.
Set The Kansas Jayhawks Win Total At … 6.5
Likely Wins: Wagner
50/50 Games: at Arizona, Cincinnati, Fresno State, at Iowa State, Kansas State, at Missouri, Oklahoma State, at Texas Tech, UCF, Utah, West Virginia
Likely Losses: No sure-thing losses
