Missouri took down Kansas 24-10 to end the 2011 regular season, but there was a problem. Those Jayhawks were awful.
Mizzou took down the 2010 regular season finale, too, and once again, those Jayhawks were horrible.
The 2009 KU team ended up with a losing season after dropping a thriller to the Tigers, but both were good in 2008, and forgotten on a national scale, both were deep in the national title hunt – yes, Kansas – when they met in 2007.
And now, they’re both good. Really good.
Kansas dropkicked Fresno State in Week 0, and last week had no problems with Wagner in a warm-up for this. Next up is the Big Ten opener against West Virginia in two weeks, but as big as that will be, this is what matters.
Missouri rolled up a 61-6 win over Central Arkansas and gets Louisiana next before starting the SEC run with South Carolina.

Why Kansas Will Win
How much more polished can you be?
Fresno State rolled an okay Georgia Southern team 42-14 last week. Kansas ripped the Bulldogs to shreds in a 31-7 Week 0 opener. If that wasn’t enough, Wagner served as a nice game to get the downfield passing game working even better.
Quarterback Jalon Daniels has been brilliant so far, the running game is working, and most of the problems and little issues of last year seem to have melted away over the first two games in the shiny refurbished stadium.
Missouri has to get to Daniels and apply a little pressure, but so far, the Jayhawk offensive line has been close to flawless.

Why Missouri Will Win
Missouri isn’t Fresno State or Wagner.
There might be plenty of new parts in the mix, but it’s business as usual – and not just because everything exploded against Central Arkansas.
Kansas hasn’t had to deal with a real running game yet. Missouri has the back in transfer Ahmad Hardy, and former Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula adds more to the ground game, to go along with his downfield passing ability.
As long as the lines are holding up and the defense can keep Daniels from getting comfortable, it’ll all be fine.

Missouri Will Crank Up the Offense at Home
Missouri quarterback Sam Horn might be out for a while, but Pribula is more than ready for this.
The running game will be great, and while the kicking game is a question mark with an injury to kicker Blake Craig, the play-calling should be a bit more aggressive because of it. That will matter.
Can the Mizzou defense get to Daniels? It won’t do it enough, but it’ll hold on over the last few drives to get out with a great win.
