Will Katie Taylor earn a sweep? Or will Amanda Serrano find redemption? All that’s left for these ladies is the fighting to find out. Their trilogy boxing match scheduled for 10 rounds takes place Friday, July 11 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Taylor (24-1, 6 KOs), the undisputed super lightweight champion, is putting her titles on the line against Serrano (47-3-1, 31 KOs) after winning their previous two encounters – albeit not without controversy. The judges gave Taylor a hotly contested split decision in their 2022 battle. Then this past November, Taylor secured a unanimous decision victory despite being deducted point for headbutts and causing a nasty gash over Serrano’s right eye. Even with the point deduction, all three judges scored the rematch 95-94 for Taylor.
Serrano has been steadfast in her belief that she didn’t lose in November, a sentiment that she continued to share this week leading up to the fight. It’ll be interesting to see how Taylor and Serrano close out one of the most compelling rivalries in boxing history.
