Carson Hocevar piloted the No. 11 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing in Saturday’s HyVee Perks 250 at Iowa Speedway after Kaulig parted ways with Josh Williams earlier in the week. Kaulig said that it would have multiple drivers drive the car over the remaining 12 races of the 2025 Xfinity Series season.
The team announced Monday that Michael McDowell will get the next shot in this coming Saturday’s race at Watkins Glen International. Justin Haley, McDowell’s Spire Motorsports teammate, will go next in the Aug. 22 race at Daytona International Speedway. Kaulig stopped short of announcing a driver for the Aug. 30 race at Portland International Raceway. Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports said that the hope is that Supercars Championship racer Will Brown will handle the driving duties at Portland.
Hocevar drove the car to a sixth-place finish at Iowa. McDowell will look to replicate his success in what will be his first Xfinity start in nine years. One of NASCAR‘s best road racers, McDowell won the Xfinity race at Road America in 2016. His most recent Cup Series road course win came in 2022 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course.
Kaulig Racing calling on Cup Series regulars to drive No. 11 car in Xfinity Series
Like McDowell, this will be Haley’s first Xfinity start of the season; he last competed in 2023 for Kaulig. Haley has four career Xfinity wins, all of which have been on superspeedways. If Brown does compete at Portland, it will be his first career Xfinity start. Brown has a pair of Cup starts over the last two seasons, finishing 31st in last year’s race at Sonoma Raceway and 39th in last month’s Chicago Street Race.
Williams, 32, was released by Kaulig after spending less than two seasons with the team. Williams, who previously drove full-time for DGM Racing in Xfinity, joined Kaulig ahead of the 2024 season. He finished 18th in the standings last season. Before his sudden release, Williams sat 19th in this season’s points standings, compiling two top 10s. He finished 22nd at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in what ended up being his final start for Kaulig.
