On the recent edition of “Bird’s Eye View with Sue Bird,” Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell lauded teammate Caitlin Clark for her unselfishness and for Clark’s commitment to building team chemistry during Clark’s first two seasons with the Fever franchise.
On the podcast, WNBA legend Sue Bird asked Mitchell whether there were any growing pains, internal disagreements, or team chemistry issues when Clark burst onto the scene in the league, given Mitchell’s established role as the Fever’s primary scorer and leader.

Mitchell said there were zero issues and pointed to Clark’s team-first approach as to why it all gelled together so quickly.
“The biggest part that I respected about Caitlin is that she never was bigger than the program,” Mitchell said. “I don’t know if that makes sense, but it wasn’t like she was trying to take over.
“It’s like she wasn’t trying to be bigger than everybody within our locker room, she wasn’t trying to be bigger than anyone else. I think the way that her style of play, it kind of ended up complementing me and complementing AB (Aliyah Boston).
“The one thing I love about Caitlin, too, is that we all love basketball the same way. We all have our different styles, ways of playing it, but the passion for it with Caitlin when she didn’t play compared to when she did play remained the same.”
Mitchell continued her praise of the Fever’s cornerstone point guard, noting that Clark’s demeanor never wavered despite numerous injury setbacks or undesirable breaks.
“I respected that about her because it could have easily not been that way. You have people that come in that don’t want to buy in once things don’t go their way or once unfortunate things happen or you can’t play and injury happens and you’re not getting your body the way you want to. And so, I can respect the fact that she kept the program the program and she didn’t let her passion waver because she ended up pouring in more than she thought. And it was dope because she could have easily not been that person,” Mitchell said.
Keeping Clark and Mitchell together alongside fellow star forward Aliyah Boston will be one of the Fever’s top offseason priorities. Mitchell’s comments about Clark sound like a potentially encouraging sign for the Fever’s hopes of bringing Mitchell back into the fold for the 2026 season as part of the Fever’s “Big Three.”
