Kelsey Plum’s first season with the Los Angeles Sparks has been an eventful one so far. Although there has been some controversy, it has been a largely positive experience for her after spending the first eight years of her career with the Las Vegas Aces franchise.
Plum has been a big piece in transforming the Sparks from a bottom-tier team to a potential playoff contender. While they lost to the Washington Mystics on Sunday, they remain ninth in the WNBA standings with a 16-18 record. The top eight teams in the league, regardless of conference, qualify for the postseason.

In their most recent game against the Mystics, however, Plum made headlines for a different reason.
During the introductions for the contest, Plum was apparently introduced as a 5-foot-6 guard. According to the WNBA website, she stands at 5-foot-8.
The four-time WNBA All-Star didn’t let the incident slide and approached the PA announcer to question the mistake and correct it.
Sure enough, after brwsports shared a video of Plum’s moment with the announcer, fans were quick to react to it.

“That’s so on brand for Plum Dawg,” a commenter wrote. Another one said, “Love it!”
A fan joked, “This is me every time someone tries to tell me I’m not 5’8.”
“That’s right claim those inches,” a supporter remarked.
“I’m 5’9 and I feel that,” a social media user admitted.
Even the Sparks themselves couldn’t help but comment, writing, “Size matters.”

The Sparks play the Dallas Wings next at Crypto.com Arena to start a four-game home stretch; it’s unlikely fans will see a mistake in announcing Plum’s height. L.A. is set to return to the road on September 1 against the Seattle Storm.
