Kentucky Women’s Basketball gets huge win at Louisville

Four of Kentucky’s five starters scored in double figures as the Wildcats took down Louisville in a 72-62 road win. The win keeps the Wildcats undefeated at 7-0 on the season.

The Wildcats seized control in the third quarter by outscoring the Cardinals 20-6. It blew open a three-point halftime lead to a 16-point lead after three quarters.

Kentucky entered the matchup No. 2o in the country, with Louisville right behind at No. 21. Head coach Kenny Brooks is now 2-0 vs. the Cards since coming to Lexington.

Tonie Morgan (19), Teonni Key (17), Clara Strack (17), and Jordan Obi (10) all scored in double figures for the Wildcats, with the team shooting 52.5 percent from the floor.

Kentucky dominated on the glass, winning the rebound battle in convincing fashion, 41-27. All five starters had at least seven rebounds, with Strack leading the way with 10. Amelia Hassett, the only starter not in double figures, had seven rebounds.

The Wildcats’ defense held Louisville to less than 40% shooting from the floor, and they withstood Tajian Roberts scoring 22 points on 10-18 shooting and Laura Ziegler scoring 18 points on 4-7 from 3-point range.

Kentucky heads to Puerto Rico next Wednesday for a major test as they take on No. 9 Maryland in the Puerto Rico Shootout. That game will get underway at 5:30 PM ET.
