Mick Foley made headlines when he cut ties with WWE over the companyβs continued association with Donald Trumpβbut donβt expect Kevin Nash to follow him out the door.
While Foley publicly announced on December 16 that he would no longer appear for WWE due to what he called the companyβs βclose relationshipβ with Trump, Nash addressed the situation during his Kliq This podcastβand heβs taking a very different route as he wonβt be cutting ties with WWE.
βHe bailed. And Iβm just like, manβI understand it. If thatβs how Mick feels, I get it from Mickβs standpoint,β Nash said. βBut for me personally, I had some people text me like, βAre you going to follow suit?β And Iβm like, uhβ¦ let me explain my position.β
Nash went on to share a deeply personal look at why heβs staying loyal to WWE, citing his long-standing bond with Paul βTriple Hβ Levesque and the McMahon family.
βPaul and I drove up and down the road together for about a year and a halfβ¦ I was at their wedding. I was one of Paulβs best men. I was in the wedding. When I was Diesel, they flew my wife to New York City. Linda [McMahon] took my wife out for the dayβlike a girlsβ day outβand they had dinner at the Rainbow Room. That was my wifeβs first time in New York while I was busy doing a commercial and other things. Linda took care of my wife, and Iβll always be grateful.β
The WWE Hall of Famer made it clear that personal connection is why he just canβt walk away from the company, adding that he looks at the McMahonβLevesque family as family.
βI look at the McMahonβLevesque family as family. Theyβre just family to me. Theyβre like my Republican familyβdifferent views maybeβbut still family.β
Nash also talked about Triple Hβs recent White House appointment to the Presidentβs Council on Fitness, saying he completely understands why The Game accepted the role.
βPaul being involved with the Presidentβs Council on Fitness like Arnold was, of course heβs going to do that. Itβs a huge honor for him, and it means a lot to him.β
While Nash and Foley may agree politically, their personal loyalties and decisions are clearly different. Foley has made it clear he wonβt be making WWE appearances or renewing his Legends contract in protest of Trump, but Nash isnβt walking that same line.
