Khabib Nurmagomedov protege Amru Magomedov set for PFL debut

One of the best prospects in MMA has joined one of the big leagues with a debut set.

UAE Warriors champion Amru Magomedov recently signed with PFL and now has his promotional debut set as he battles Dana White’s Contender Series alumni Kolton Englund at PFL: Road to Dubai.

The three-round lightweight bout will take place Feb. 7 at Coca Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the promotion announced Friday.

Magomedov (9-0) is a protege of Khabib Nurmagomedov and training partner of Islam Makhachev, Usman Nurmagomedov and Umar Nurmagomedov. Seven of his nine professional wins have come inside the distance. During his UAE Warriors title reign, Magomedov defended the title twice including a quick TKO dismantling of former UFC fighter Alex da Silva.

Englund (15-4) has competed for various promotions including Fury FC and LFA. He is the husband of UFC fighter Rayanne dos Santos and rides a six-fight winning streak into the matchup.

With the addition, the PFL: Road to Dubai lineup includes:

  • Champion Usman Nurmagomedov vs. Alfie Davis – for lightweight title

  • Ramazan Kuramagomedov vs. Shamil Musaev – for welterweight title

  • Dakota Ditcheva vs. Denise Kielholtz

  • Pouya Rahmani vs. Karl Williams

  • Kolton Englund vs. Amru Magomedov
