King Green calls out Renato Moicano: ‘Loser is buying a Bitcoin’

by

LAS VEGAS – King Green is back in the win column and wants to keep things rolling in Houston against Renato Moicano next.

After back-to-back losses to Paddy Pimblett and Mauricio Ruffy, Green (33-17-1 MMA, 14-12-1 UFC) bounced back in the UFC on ESPN 73 main card opener against a debuting Lance Gibson Jr. Green admits it was a little frustrating because his opponent wasn’t willing to engage in his type of fight, as he was trying to take home a bonus before the holidays.

“Wins and losses don’t define me, bro,” Green told reporters during a post-fight news conference. “None of that stuff defines me. That’s what I was ready to prove. This guy took it on short notice, but I had two other opponents pull out, too. I’m who I am. It doesn’t matter who was coming on this stage, I was going to fight the same way. Still haven’t changed anything. Guys are like, ‘Put your hands up,’ and stuff. I came to put on shows, and that’s what it’s all about, putting on shows.

“I’m trying to get the Fight of the Night. I’m trying to tell that dude, ‘Come on, just fight me. I’m trying to get the Fight of the Night.’ I’m not trying to just get by with a W. It’s not good enough. … ‘We gotta throw, kid. If we’re trying to get Fight of the Night, we gotta go.’ I’m like, maybe I can talk to him and get him to get mad and come in. Maybe he just stuck to his gameplan with the movement.”

The result of the fight was a split decision, which confused Green.

“When they said a split, I’m like, what were they watching?” Green said. “I worked the kid, chased him around the ring all day. He got a takedown, but he didn’t even do anything with it, you know? When I took him down, I was trying to smash. That’s the difference between the two. So, when they said that, I was like, ‘What the f*ck?’ But it is what it is.”

Green hopes to return to action when the UFC heads to Houston in February. He wants to meet Renato Moicano in the octagon, with a hefty side bet on the line: a Bitcoin. Based on the current price, one Bitcoin would mean a $89,000 bet.

“I wanted to fight in Houston,” Green said. “I was wanting to fight Moicano. I don’t know if he has a fight or not, but I was looking at Moicano, like, I’ve been seeing these commercials, and he be on, I think it’s Kraken or something like that. He’s always like, ‘Bitcoin, brother! Buy Bitcoin!’ I’m like, maybe he wants to fight, and the loser has to buy the other person a Bitcoin. We’ll fight for a Bitcoin.

“I believe that he’s the only person that I would call out that would honor his word. Loser is buying a Bitcoin. I got the money. We’ll buy a Bitcoin, or at least half a Bitcoin. If you don’t want to do the whole thing, we’ll do half, and I’m good with it.”
