India National Cricket Team wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav is arguably the best all-format spinner in the world, but he is not someone who can always be trusted by his captains to take a review.
Kuldeep Yadav further damaged his reputation in taking reviews as he forced his skipper Suryakumar Yadav, to burn one in the last Group Stage match of the Asia Cup 2025.
Kuldeep Yadav is on fire in the Asia Cup 2025
After being benched for the entire Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 and not getting a consistent run of chances, the 30-year-old left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav is finally getting opportunities in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.

He started in the India playing XI as the Gautam Gambhir-led coaching staff decided to play with a combination that consisted of a sole specialist pacer in Jasprit Bumrah.
Kuldeep Yadav dominated in India’s first Asia Cup 2025 match against the United Arab Emirates as he bagged four wickets and was awarded the Player of the Match.
Then, in the second game against Pakistan, Kuldeep Yadav once again shone and picked up three important wickets to win the Player of the Match award.
Meanwhile, the left-arm wrist-spinner didn’t look that effective in the 12th match of the Asia Cup 2025 against Oman at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
In the 9th over, Kuldeep got so desperate that he used skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s hands to signal T, but that review was wasted.
Kuldeep hit Aamir Kaleem on the back thigh with a googly around off stump and looked not out at first glance; hence, the umpire didn’t raise the finger. However, Kuldeep Yadav convinced Suryakumar Yadav to use a review and forcibly used his hands to signal the ‘T’ – only to waste a review.

Kuldeep’s wait for the wicket finally ended on the third ball of the same over as he castled the stumps of Jatinder Singh for 32 runs off 33 balls.
Kuldeep Yadav’s PoTM steak ends, Sanju Samson bags the award
The wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson won the Player of the Match for his heroics against Oman, and speaking during the post-match presentation, he said that he felt good to spend some time in the middle after not getting opportunities in the first two games. Samson said:
“It was humid and hot out there. Working on my fitness on the last few weeks. We just got a new trainer and did the Bronco test. Good to see I got to spend some time in the middle.
“They bowled reallt well. Have to give credit to Oman. Bowled well in the powerplay also, were swinging it upfront. I keep backing my strength to stay positive. Any contribution with the bat for your country, you have to take the positives.”
