Lady Bulldogs get 48-39 EIAC win at Lawrenceburg

A good start in the first quarter set the tone for the Lady Bulldogs of Batesville Wednesday on the road at Lawrenceburg as they went in search of a second EIAC victory on the young season.

Batesville led by seven points after the first eight minutes and by 10 points after three quarter en route to the 48-39 victory against the Lady Tigers.

Batesville improves to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the EIAC. Lawrenceburg drops to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Batesville jumped out to a 17-10 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Bulldogs led 26-20 at the half. After three quarters, Batesville held a 38-28 advantage.

Maggie Jelinek led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 20 points. Kaylin Kathmann was also in double figures with 16 points. Nora Wiedeman chipped in with six points. Jersey Trenkamp had three points. Leah Meyer added two points, and Molly Gesell hit a free throw for one point.

Jelinek grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Kathmann added five rebounds. Wiedeman and Gesell both had three rebounds. Trenkamp and Meyer finished with two rebounds each. Kathmann dished out a team-high four assists. Wiedeman added three assists. Meyer and Gesell both had one assist.

Lawrenceburg won the junior varsity contest 18-13.

For Batesville, Caitlin Raver led the way with five points. Kenzi Lacey, Bella Watson, Addysin Hughes and Meyer all scored two points. Lacey had a team-high six rebounds.
