Lady Vols defeat Mississippi State to remain undefeated in SEC play

No. 22 Tennessee (11-3, 3-0 SEC) defeated Mississippi State (14-3, 1-2 SEC), 90-80, Thursday at Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville, Mississippi.

The Lady Vols led, 47-37, at halftime.

Mia Pauldo scored a career-high 26 points, including 12 points in the first quarter. She also totaled three assists, two rebounds and two steals. Paudo converted 8-of-12 field goal attempts, 2-of-5 three-point attempts and 8-of-9 free throw attempts. She was one of four Tennessee players to score 10-plus points in the contest for the Lady Vols, which won its third consecutive game against the Bulldogs.

Janiah Barker recorded 18 points, six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal for the Lady Vols, who led, 26-19, at the end of the first quarter. Mississippi State outrebounded Tennessee, 37-35, in the game.

Talaysia Cooper and Zee Spearman scored 14 points each for the Lady Vols. Cooper also totaled six rebounds, five assists, three steals and one block, while Spearman finished with five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

Kharyssa Richardson and Madison Francis each scored 22 points to lead Mississippi State.

Tennessee next plays on Sunday as it hosts Arkansas in the annual We Back Pat game. Tipoff between the Lady Vols and Razorbacks is slated for 2 p.m. EST at Food City Center.
