AEW added a major moment to tonight’s episode of Dynamite just hours before the show went live. The company officially announced that Mercedes Moné will be front and center for a special in-ring championship celebration at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.
The announcement dropped via AEW’s X account shortly before airtime, confirming that Moné — fresh off her win at Forbidden Door in a 4-Way match for the International TBS Championship — will appear live to celebrate her latest victory. AEW called it the “Mercedes Moné Championship Celebration” and teased that Moné is ready to party it up in her own flashy style.
“After emerging victorious from the International TBS Championship 4-Way at #ForbiddenDoor, #9BeltsMoné, @MercedesVarnado, is going to party it up in the @2300Arena LIVE, TONIGHT!”
With the #9BeltsMoné nickname and both her title belts on display in the promotional graphic, AEW made it clear that this segment is all about cementing Moné’s spot as one of the promotion’s top stars.
This last-minute update adds even more firepower to an already loaded August 27 lineup, which includes Jon Moxley vs. Daniel Garcia, Darby Allin vs. Claudio Castagnoli in a Falls Count Anywhere match, and a tag bout featuring Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford vs. Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron.
Moné’s surprise appearance could signal even bigger moves ahead as AEW builds toward All Out next month — and with it taking place at the historic ECW Arena, fans are ready for anything.
