The redshirt freshman forward is running away as the best young talent in the West Coast Conference. New Zealand’s Lauren Whittaker had a spectacular weekend in Fort Myers, Florida, at Coconut Hoops, being named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 25.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game for the Zags.
She has now won three of the four conference’s freshman of the week awards. Whittaker leads the league in scoring at 19.0 per game and rebounding at 8.1 per game. The 6-3 standout has been hitting 53.5 percent of her looks from the field, 37.9 percent on three-pointers, and 82.5 percent of her free throws.

Gonzaga junior guard Zeryhia Aokuso actually won the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year honor in 2023-24 with Saint Mary’s.
