Hulk Hogan was noticeably left out of the Emmys “In Memoriam” TV tribute on Sunday night, even though many assumed he’d be acknowledged after his passing. With that in mind, it seems his ex-wife Linda Hogan thinks it wasn’t an accident.
While speaking to TMZ Sports, Linda Hogan stated that she believes the snub was political, saying it may be because Hulk supported conservative politics later in life, including speaking at the Republican National Convention for Donald Trump last year.
Linda added that Hogan had supported both political parties over the years, so she feels leaving him out of the main tribute was unfair.
The Hulkster wasn’t the only big name missing. Horror actor Tony Todd and Sopranos star Jerry Adler were also left out of the televised segment. The Emmys later explained that all three are listed in a longer online version, but that section is just a scrolling list of names with no special tribute, unlike what aired on TV.
Linda reminded fans that Hulk Hogan was a huge TV draw for decades, calling him a “ratings king.” Whether on network specials or pay-per-view events, millions tuned in to watch him. She also said Hogan brought new audiences to wrestling, thanks to his energy and positive personality.
Linda Hogan pointed out that NBC in particular owes Hogan respect, because in 1985 the network launched Saturday Night’s Main Event, the first prime-time wrestling show featuring WWF stars. Hulk’s appearances made it a major ratings success, helping wrestling reach a mainstream audience.
Whether Hulk Hogan’s absence from the Emmys’ “In Memoriam” was political or just an editing choice, it has upset many fans and people in the wrestling world. There’s no denying just how big a star Hogan was, so many people felt he deserved to have been shown on the broadcast in the end.
Do you think Hulk Hogan was unfairly left out of the Emmys’ televised tribute, or was it just a time constraint? Should his political stance have mattered at all? Share your thoughts and reactions in the comments below!
