Lisa Angiolini Sets National 200m Breaststroke Record; First Italian Woman Inside 2:19
Lisa Angiolini became the first Italian woman to go inside 2:19 in the 200 breaststroke at the national championships in Riccione.
Angiolini, who missed the short-course Europeans through illness, stopped the clock in 2:18.92 to eclipse the previous record of 2:19.17 set by Francesca Fangio in April 2022.
Angiolini’s time would have earned her third place at the continental meet that wrapped up last weekend in Lublin, Poland.
Fangio was second in 2:21.01 with Lucrezia Mancini third in 2:22.41.
Elena Capretta enjoyed two trips to the top of the podium with a 25.29 victory in the 50 fly followed by the 100 free in which she set a 53.53 PB.
Gabriele Mancini clocked a 56.89 PB to win the men’s 100m breaststroke; Alessandro Miressi took the 100 free (46.77) and Michele Lamberti won the 100 back (50.57).
