Liv Morgan’s emotional journey has taken a powerful turn, and she’s finally opening up about it.
During her appearance on Stephanie McMahon’s podcast What’s Your Story?, the WWE Superstar peeled back the curtain on how her most recent injury wasn’t just a setback in the ring—but a turning point in her personal life. Morgan didn’t hold back about the mental toll it took, revealing that this time, the pain went far beyond the physical. Unlike her previous injury, this one hit a lot deeper.
“When I tore my shoulder in 2022, I accepted it. It was my first injury. I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll come back from this.’ But this injury really like mentally messed with me.”
Her usual mantra of everything happening for a reason started to unravel. For the first time, she began questioning everything.
“I believe everything happens for a reason… but this was like the one time selfishly where I was like, ‘This didn’t happen for my greatest good. This happened to me.’”
Feeling lost and detached from her identity as Liv Morgan, she spent five months off WWE TV, grappling with her new reality. What came out of that experience was a version of Liv Morgan that feels completely different—softer, more emotionally raw, and deeply introspective. And then came the shift she didn’t expect.
“I’m like way softer on this side of my injury than I was before. Maybe something in me softened, like Play-Doh.”
“I feel different. I don’t feel like I’m the same person I was six months ago. I’m crying all the time. Everything is touching me.”
Whether it’s watching inspirational videos, reading a book, or seeing John Cena’s retirement tribute, Morgan admitted she breaks down into tears far more often than before. She even shared that “everything is touching me” now—and it’s left her trying to make sense of her new emotional openness.
The emotional fallout from her time away has given Liv a renewed sense of purpose and a desire to live for more than herself. That growth may not be part of any storyline, but it’s the realest character development she’s ever had. In an industry built on toughness, Liv Morgan’s honesty about vulnerability hits differently.
“I was just being Gianna Daddio—not Liv Morgan—and I’m like, man, I’m such a sensitive little soft girl.”
This isn’t the version of Liv Morgan we’ve seen dominate on-screen—but maybe it’s the most powerful one yet. Liv Morgan’s story hits home for anyone who’s ever had to rebuild themselves after everything fell apart. Her growth isn’t about gold—it’s about grace. And she’s owning every second of it.
