Following one of their worst losses of the season, the Longhorns will be back in action on Saturday for the Red Rivalry Game. As Texas looks to get back in the win column, they will have a special guest in attendance in JayQuan Snell. The Waxahachie High product is one of the best prospects in his class and is at the top of the Longhorns‘ radar.
Currently, the Texas native is ranked as the third-best safety in the 2027 class by 247Sports. They also rank him as the 56th best player and the ninth best safety. Due to his ability to frustrate offensive coordinators, he has received interest from some of the best programs in the country.
While the Longhorns will be looking to give Snell an experience he won’t forget, they are also facing competition. Snell has also received offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn, Ohio State, Clemson, and Baylor. All of those programs would benefit from having Snell as one of their weapons in the secondary.

Over the weekend, Snell will get to see what Longhorns football is all about. The Red Rivalry game is played annually and is one of the most anticipated games on the schedule. This year, Texas has extra motivation as the 2025 campaign has not gone as planned. Pulling off an upset against Oklahoma would give Snell a picture of what the future could hold.
With no decision date set, the Longhorns have plenty of time to make their pitch. It is a good sign that Snell is willing to take the trip to the Cotton Bowl and see Texas in a hostile environment. The goal for the Longhorns is to secure a commitment and fill the secondary with another elite option.
