Louisville basketball, paced by big man Sananda Fru, routs Montana

Pat Kelsey said it in the immediate aftermath of Louisville basketball’s lopsided loss Tuesday at No. 23 Tennessee, then again two days later – on an episode of his radio show: The bigs have got to get going.

“There’s a lot of different ways to do it,” the coach said.

All it took Saturday was facing a Montana roster that, per KenPom.com, ranks 241st out of 365 Division I programs in average height.

The result? A 94-54 victory for the No. 11 Cardinals (10-2) in the final game before ACC play begins in earnest.

Coming off a season-low four points on 2-for-3 shooting in 28 minutes against the Volunteers, Sananda Fru led all scorers with a season-high 18 on a 9-for-11 clip. He also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds in 23 minutes.

Kelsey was without two guards, freshman Mikel Brown Jr. and redshirt senior Kobe Rodgers. The former is dealing with a lower back injury that sidelined him from the loss in Knoxville, while the latter is in concussion protocol.

UofL doesn’t play again until Dec. 30, when it kicks off conference play at 9 p.m. at California’s Haas Pavilion.
