The College Sports Commission describes itself as an organization that oversees the new revenue share system between schools and their student-athletes, as well as making sure these athletes are signing fair and legal NIL deals.
While the CSC isn’t a part of the NCAA, they do work together.

The LSU Tigers have now reportedly found themselves as the first target under investigation from the new group, per Matt Baker and Ralph D. Russo of The Athletic. There have been other schools contacted, but the Tigers are the first to be known.
Per the reporting of The Athletic, this email was sent from the head of CSC investigations, Katie B. Medearis, to new LSU athletic director Verge Ausberry:
The College Sports Commission is investigating whether a member of one of your institution’s sports teams failed to report one or more third-party Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals in accordance with applicable rules.
The Tigers have not yet commented on this report.

While it is not yet fully known what the specifics of this particular investigation are, LSU has had a very busy offseason of NIL dealings that could end up under inspection. They have signed the No. 1 transfer portal class and a top recruiting class.
That doesn’t mean there were any wrongdoings committed, but it will raise some eyebrows.
There was also the Demond Williams Jr. incident, when he entered the transfer portal and seemed headed towards signing with the Tigers despite signing a contract to return to the Washington Huskies. That didn’t end up happening, but caused a stir.
The whole college football world is on edge right now. Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney and new Auburn Tigers coach Alex Golesh have made headlines recently by openly talking about tampering.
LSU won’t be the last school to get roped into a CSC investigation this offseason.
