LSU Tigers Women’s Basketball Dominates Southeastern In 115-26 Rout On Thursday Night

by

The LSU Tigers Women’s Basketball team moves to 2-0 after what can only be described as a shellacking of the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions, by a final score of 115-26 on Thursday night.

No one expected the Tigers to lose this game, or for it to be any close at all. An 89-point victory is impressive, even if it was against a Southland Conference opponent. The Lions scored just four points in the first quarter and then followed that up with just two points in the second.

Out of 12 LSU players that entered the game, 11 of them made a field goal. The only player left out was sophomore guard Jada Richard.

The Tigers helped their case with lights-out shooting from the field, going 50-of-74. They were just 7-of-13 from the charity stripe, though. It wasn’t a particular strength of theirs in the first game, either, so something to work on in practice.

The biggest winners of these two games has been South Carolina Gamecocks transfer MiLaysia Fulwiley and true freshman ZaKiyah Johnson.

Fulwiley is coming off the bench, which she did with the Gamecocks, but is playing point guard now. That can be a hard position to learn. She looks strong in the role so far.

She had six points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block in just 13 minutes on Thursday.

Johnson had an efficient scoring night. She had 16 points on 8-of-11 from the field, five rebounds, a block and four steals in 19 minutes. It’ll be fun to see how she adjusts when the competition goes up a level, but she looks like she belongs in the starting lineup.
