One of LSU women’s basketball’s potential nonconference opponents for next season was revealed Thursday. The Tigers could take on UConn in Nashville during the 2026-27 season and it will be broadcast by ESPN.

Former Husky and current ESPN women’s basketball contributor Rebecca Lobo broke the news during an appearance on the “A Touch More” podcast, hosted by Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird.

The last meeting between the two sides was during the 2016-17 season when UConn came away with a 76-53 win the PMAC. The Huskies hold a 6-1 advantage in the all-time series. LSU’s only win against UConn came in the 2007 NCAA Tournament, a 73-50 victory in the Fresno Regional final.

The matchup would be between two legendary head coaches in LSU’s Kim Mulkey and UConn’s Geno Auriemma, the winningest coach of all time in college basketball. The pair played 10 times when Mulkey held the head coach role at Baylor.

According to a report from The Advocate’s Reed Darcey, the game is not finalized, but the parties are working to schedule a neutral site game.

Mulkey’s last win against UConn came in the 2019-20 season when the Bears traveled to Hartford and came away with a 74-58 victory. It was their second-straight win against the Huskies after taking an 11-point win at home the previous season. Baylor went 4-5 against UConn under Mulkey’s leadership.
