Madison Keys impressed the tennis world with her performances last year, and winning the Australian Open is certainly the highlight of her season.
Facing the best tennis player in the world, Aryna Sabalenka, in the final is a very demanding task, but the American tennis player showed focus and determination and managed to win her biggest trophy. However, we will find out soon whether she can defend the Australian Open trophy again.
Talking about her goals for this season, Madison Keys revealed that she's doing things she's not really comfortable with. The famous tennis player has sometimes been bitter about her approach, believing that at certain moments she had to take more risks, which she has not done often so far in her career.
“Yeah, I think that I have really been trying to focus on trying to get to the net a little bit more, and I think my biggest goal, not only for here but really just for the entire year, is to do the things that kind of make me uncomfortable on the court,” Keys said.
“I think sometimes, especially if I get nervous or it’s in tight moments, I kind of fall back on being a little bit more comfortable, which I think sometimes actually gets me in trouble."
Keys shares her goals
To become a world-class tennis player, you need to work on yourself and improve every aspect of your game. Keys revealed that she has been working on her serve and return, stressing that at the end of the year she wasn’t starting points the way she wanted to at the end of the season.
By changing her mindset, she is ready to show her full potential this year.
“So I think continuing to try to do the things that I have been working on in practice in matches in the big moments is probably my biggest goal of the year.”
