That game was certainly worth the three-week wait since the end of the regular season. The Oregon Ducks hosted the first ever College Football Playoff game at Autzen Stadium earlier today and they made it one to remember.
The Ducks’ offense exploded for 51 points against a stout James Madison Dukes defense in a game where it seemed like every player on that side of the ball made a major impact. However, the guy who stood out the most was wide receiver Malik Benson, the winner of this week’s Ducks Wire Player of the Game award.

In a game where true freshman wideout Dakorien Moore returned and was just trying to get his legs back under him, Benson stepped up in a huge way. He caught five passes for 119 yards, but most of that production came on his two touchdown catches.
Benson had both a 46 and 45-yard touchdown in the rout over the Dukes and was relatively wide open on both. He helped bring an explosiveness that we hadn’t seen from this Oregon offense in a while, and now they undoubtedly have supreme confidence heading into a matchup with the Texas Tech Red Raiders next week.
We know how great this team is already, and their chances of winning it all will increase exponentially if Benson can have this type of impact moving forward.
