ESPN announced Friday that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach will join College GameDay as a guest analyst ahead of Monday night’s national championship between the Indiana Hoosiers and the Miami Hurricanes at Hard Rock Stadium.
It is a notable addition for ESPN’s CFP title game coverage. Freeman brings a rare perspective, having faced both teams recently. Notre Dame played Indiana during last season’s College Football Playoff and opened the regular season against Miami, giving Freeman firsthand insight into the strengths and challenges of each program.
Freeman also carries experience few active coaches share. Notre Dame appeared in the first national championship game of the 12-team CFP era last season.

This also comes with Freeman reaffirmed his commitment to Notre Dame amid NFL interest. Adam Schefter reported earlier this week that Freeman is expected to remain in South Bend for the 2026 season, a stance the coach has doubled down on publicly.
“I’m the head coach at Notre Dame,” Freeman said, adding his focus remains on returning the Irish to CFP contention.
