Mark Zuckerberg’s list of UFC fighters he’s trained with continues to grow.
The latest addition is UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, per a video he posted on social media Thursday.
The training session took place at Cruz Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Nutley, N.J.. The gym is owned by Pereira’s longtime coach, Plinio Cruz. It’s unclear when exactly it transpired, though Pereira indicated it was after his UFC 320 fight vs. Magomed Ankalaev on Oct. 4.
The UFC champ and the Meta CEO sparred and grappled with Zuckeberg even getting a “takedown” on Pereira, despite the vast size differential.
Zuckerberg, 41, has emerged as one of mixed martial arts’ most high-profile superfans since he began jiu-jitsu training over the COVID-19 pandemic. Zuckeberg has worked with UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, and newly-crowned UFC women’s strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern, among others. Zuckerberg has attended multiple events in person, and has partnered with the UFC, making Meta the official technology partner.
