Mateusz Gamrot couldn’t contain his emotions after finding out that he’s fighting Charles Oliveira.
Gamrot (25-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) was heavily campaigning to replace an injured Rafael Fiziev against Oliveira (35-11 MMA, 23-11 UFC) in the UFC Fight Night 261 headliner Oct. 11 at Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The Polish fighter eventually got his wish, but it wasn’t met without resistance. Oliveira initially was hesitant due to the style change but ultimately agreed to the matchup.
When he found out, Gamrot let out a victory growl and was overcome with emotions. Watch the video below to see the moment.
Gamrot has won four of his past five fights, most recently rebounding from his close decision loss to Dan Hooker with a unanimous decision over Ludovit Klein in the UFC on ESPN 68 main event in May.
Oliveira, a former UFC lightweight champion, is coming off a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria for the vacant 155-pound title this past June.
