Matt Hardy knows fans are already thinking about the Hall of Fame, but don’t expect the Hardy Boyz to make that walk anytime soon.
During a recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the veteran wrestler made it clear that while the honor is inevitable, retirement is not on the table yet.
When talking about the possibility of entering the WWE Hall of Fame, Matt didn’t shy away from acknowledging that it’s going to happen. But he was quick to point out that neither he nor Jeff Hardy is done lacing up their boots.
“Everybody knows like the Hall of Fame is happening at some point, but I just don’t think we’re there yet. You know, nobody is ready. Nobody’s like saying, ‘Okay, well, we’re ready to wind it down and retire. Let’s do the Hall of Fame.’”
Matt also talked about how the conversation hasn’t even been seriously discussed with WWE officials. The idea is there—but the brothers are still in active competition, currently enjoying a strong presence in both WWE and TNA. With their momentum still running strong, it doesn’t make sense to hang it up just yet.
And while he acknowledged that some superstars like Rey Mysterio entered the Hall without retiring, that’s not how the Hardys want their legacy celebrated. For them, the honor should follow the final bell.
“I mean, Rey Mysterio’s a great example of that… but I just don’t think we’re there yet.”
At this stage in their careers, Matt and Jeff are looking to balance legacy-building with having fun, helping elevate younger talent, and experimenting creatively in both companies. For now, the Hall of Fame can wait—but it’s not off the table.
The Hardy Boyz aren’t ready for their final act yet—but when they are, WWE’s Hall of Fame stage will be waiting for them.
