Brock Lesnar may have a reason to give Matt Riddle a call right about now.
TMZ Sports Inside The Ring recently spoke to Matt Riddle, and he was in rare form. The Original Bro was uncensored in a lot of ways, as he got a lot of things off of his chest. Not only did he vent about his WWE release, but he also threw Brock Lesnar under the bus.
Matt Riddle was asked about recent booking outcomes, including Brock Lesnar defeating John Cena in quick fashion. This led Riddle to share a backstage story from the Elimination Chamber event in Saudi Arabia, where Lesnar reportedly went off script during the match.
“I’ve worked with Brock a couple times — at Extreme Rules, Elimination Chamber in Saudi. He literally forgot what number he was supposed to come out…”
“[He] punched the plexiglass door — which isn’t super strong. Like, I can kick through it, but you’re not supposed to — and then he just bum-rushed. He cut the match by 15 minutes. Because, like, he didn’t — he’s like, ‘Oh, sell.’ Like… F-5. He writes his own ticket, essentially.”
“And then Paul Heyman pretended like it didn’t happen or was like, ‘Oh, that was my mistake.’ And it’s like… no, it wasn’t. Yeah. [Expletive] him, dude. He just went into business for himself.”
Brock Lesnar and Matt Riddle have a history of tension between each other. Riddle reportedly caused issues by publicly pushing for a match with Lesnar, something that was not in WWE’s plans. While Riddle was still in NXT, he was told to stop tweeting at main roster talent, as Lesnar did not appreciate the idea.
The two eventually had a backstage conversation at the 2020 Royal Rumble. This exchange added to a string of incidents that marked Riddle’s time with the company, as he was later released after over a dozen backstage infractions.
We will have to see what’s next for Matt Riddle in the pro wrestling world. As for Brock Lesnar, he is back in WWE, and it only makes sense that we will see him again after he destroyed John Cena at Wrestlepalooza.
