The Phoenix Mercury will welcome the Las Vegas Aces at home for Game 3 of the 2025 WNBA Finals. Currently in a 0-2 position, they need to win at least one of the next two games to send the series back to Las Vegas.
Alyssa Thomas has lost twice in the Finals before, both times with the Connecticut Sun. Now, as one of the stars of this dynamic Mercury team, she is eager to clinch the title that has long proved elusive.

The WNBA veteran was traded to Phoenix in the offseason, signing a one-year, $215,000 contract with the franchise. However, she quickly made her mark on the team, and in 2025, she was one of only three Mercury players to average better than 15 points per game in the regular season (15.4). She also led the team in rebounds (8.8), assists (9.2) and steals (1.6).
Alyssa Thomas wants a championship to complete her legacy
Speaking in an interview with the WNBA, Thomas got real about what finally winning a championship would mean to her.
“None of the records or any of it is completed without a championship,” she said. “Winning a championship just completes the résumé on a great career… I can’t stop until I get one.”
Thomas is a six-time All-Star, having made the team each season since 2022. She has also been named to the first or second all-defensive team six times and has led the league in rebounding and steals once each. Therefore, her resume is already a pretty enviable one at the moment.

So far in the Finals, she has been in stellar form. Although she missed a triple-double by one assist in Game 1, she played through foul trouble and a wrist injury in Game 2 to post 10 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. But with Thomas looking to snag her first championship, fans will undoubtedly be treated to a thrilling matchup in Phoenix.
