The Wolverines are set to take on New Mexico in their season opener a little less than three weeks away with the usual camp hype and fluff coming out of ‘Fort Schembechler’ in Ann Arbor.
On Thursday, a Wolverines defender was named the fastest in a specific category by a former USA Today writer and NFL draft scout on X who called him one of his favorite defensive players in the draft.

“Michigan senior LB Ernest Hausmann plays faster than any off-ball prospect I’ve watched all summer,” Jonah Tuls wrote on X.

“He moves like a 10-year NFL vet with a unique blend of range, instincts, eye discipline, and elite stopping power. Will be one of my favorite defensive players heading into the season,” he added along with video highlights.
Hausmann is a native of Columbus, Nebraska who played his first season in Lincoln, Nebraska and moved on to play with the Wolverines for the following two seasons.
“He’s everything people think (Ohio State linebacker) Sonny Styles is,” one fan wrote.

“People don’t talk enough about his performance against OSU last year,” another reader said. “Best LB performance I think I’ve ever seen from a Michigan player.”
“Wish he’d been able to stay at Nebraska but understand why he chose to transfer,” another wrote. “He’s definitely special rooting for his success wherever he plays.”
The Hausmann report came shortly after a practice update on another standout Michigan defender. An injury update on last year’s starting QB Davis Warren was also given.

Hausmann is expected to be a difference maker for Michigan this season, and he has what it takes to be one of the best playmakers in the Big Ten and the country in what is expected to be his final college season in 2025-26.
