Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore announces starting quarterback to team

by

It probably isn’t much of a surprise to anyone following college football, but Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore has named his starting quarterback, and it’s none other than five-star true freshman Bryce Underwood according to CBS Sports;’ Matt Zenitz.

Much like in Columbus with Ohio State, the coaching staff went on a quarterback crusade and journey despite most folks believing where it would eventually end up. And … much like what we saw from OSU head coach Ryan Day with Julian Sayin, the starter that won the competition is exactly what everyone thought, with Underwood getting the nod.

Underwood is the highest-rated quarterback recruit to come to Michigan in a long, long time, but he’ll be thrown right into the wolves straight out of high school. He’s got the athletic gifts but don’t be surprised if there are some bumps along the way. Remember — Sayin had a year to sit and learn, while Underwood will not.

Originally committed to LSU, Underwood, out of Belleville, Michigan, had a change of heart and flipped his commitment to the home state school, largely because of a lucrative Name, image and likeness package the Wolverines were able to put together for him.

It’ll be awfully interesting to see how Underwood adjusts to the college game and if he can live up to the hype surrounding his arrival in Ann Arbor. Michigan kicks the season off against New Mexico on Saturday night.
