If you thought Tom Izzo would be slowing down at this point in his career, think again. On Wednesday, Izzo’s Michigan State basketball team landed another big commitment for their 2026 class, earning a commitment from 4-star power forward Julius Avent.
Avent is a 6-foot-7, 220-pound power forward out of Bergen Catholic in New Jersey. He is ranked the No. 78 player in the country by 247Sports. MSU had to go up against Seton Hall to land this commitment, as Avent is a Seton Hall legacy. Avent was also being pursued by teams like Providence, Xavier, Penn State, George Washington, Mississippi State, Villanova, and Washington.

Avent is long, strong, and can knock down his three-pointers. He will join point guard Carlos Medlock in the 2026 class, but I would expect more to come on that front soon.
