Michigan State football is gearing up for the 2025 football season, the second under Jonathan Smith. While it may be a long ways away, the Spartans will be making a vaunted trip to Kinnick Stadium to face off with the Iowa Hawkeyes in late November.
While a lot can happen between then and now, offensive coordinator Tim Lester, who is also entering his second season at the helm of the Hawkeye’s offense, has named a starting quarterback for the upcoming year.

South Dakota State transfer Mark Gronowski has won the job, beating out Auburn transfer Hank Brown, amongst others.
Gronowski is one of the biggest transfer portal gets this cycle, with the former Jackrabbit having a very successful career at the FCS level, where he threw for over 10,000 passing yards, 93 passing touchdowns, 1,767 rushing yards and 37 rushing touchdowns.
