Preseason All-Big Ten selection Grace VanSlooten and Emma Shumate each had big scoring nights while helping the Michigan State women’s basketball team roll to an exhibition win over Michigan Tech on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
VanSlooten had 22 points and eight rebounds while Shumate made six 3-pointers while scoring 20 points off the bench in the Spartans’ 101-58 victory over Michigan Tech at Breslin Center.

VanSlooten and Shumate were a combined 15-of-19 from the field for the Spartans, who shot 47.2% in the win.
Theryn Hallock added 16 points, six steals and five assists, Kennedy Blair scored 14 points and Marah Dykstra chipped in with 10 rebounds.
MSU took control in an opening quarter in which it outscored Michigan Tech, 38-6.
The game marked the lone exhibition for the Spartans, who open the regular season at home against Mercyhurst on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
