Sophie Cunningham and the Fever are back in the win column.

The former Missouri women’s basketball star recorded five points and four rebounds as the Indiana Fever, playing without an injured Caitlin Clark, defeated the Dallas Wings 94-86 on Friday night, June 27 in Dallas, one night after suffering a home loss to the Los Angeles Sparks.

Cunningham had the second-best plus-minus among all Fever players in the win, as Indiana was +15 during her 24 minutes on the court. The Fever are now 8-8 on the season, which is tied for third in the Eastern Conference.

The Mizzou alum was relatively quiet from the floor, as she finished 1-of-2 shooting from the field. Her lone field goal was a third-quarter 3-pointer, which helped stave off a Wings comeback attempt that saw the home team cut a once-23-point lead to a tied game in the second half. Cunningham also went 2-of-2 in her lone trip to the free-throw line.

Kelsey Mitchell led the game with 32 points and seven assists for the Fever, and Natasha Howard had a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double. Rookie Paige Bueckers led Dallas with 27 points.

Through 11 games with Indiana — her first season with the Fever after being traded by the Phoenix Mercury — Cunningham is averaging 5.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals per contest.

Cunningham recently was announced as a member of Missouri Athletics’ 2025 Hall of Fame Class. The Rock Bridge High grad is the Mizzou women’s basketball team’s all-time leading scorer with 2,187 points. The Tigers have not been to the NCAA Tournament since Cunningham graduated in 2019.
