Mohammad Amir BURNS Abhishek Sharma, calls him slogger, technically weak and exposes his weaknesses

by

Mohammad Amir trolls Abhishek Sharma: Abhishek has been India’s best T20 batter post the 2024 T20 World Cup. The batter has the highest strike rate while opening the batting post 2024, he strikes at 194.45. However, the flamboyant left-handed opener did not have the best of a start to his 2026 T20 World Cup campaign while opening the innings for India.

In the first match against the USA, he was dismissed for a golden duck, and since then, he has not featured for the Men in Blue as he has been suffering from a stomach issue. He is expected to be playing India’s next game against Pakistan on 15th February, Colombo, as the Men in Blue still assess his fitness ahead of the important clash.

Mohammad Amir takes a dig at Abhishek Sharma

Ahead of India’s next game, former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has taken a dig at India’s best T20 batter. In the show called ‘Hasna Mana Hain’, the left-arm seamer called the left-handed batter is just a slogger, and he also pointed out his weakness and how the bowlers should handle him.

Here’s the video

Mohammad Amir, after being asked about Abhishek, said, “Honestly, he’s just a slogger. His chances of failure are high. He’s not a technically sound batsman. It’s not difficult to tackle such a batsman if you bowl on the body line. He will also struggle against slow balls.”

Abhishek Sharma is the game changer

The USA came up with a plan against Abhishek and was successful in getting him out on the very first ball he faced. He has been the game changer as he strikes, averaging a boundary roughly every 3 balls. His 80.3% of runs coming from boundaries is exceptionally high. He changes the course of the match if he gets going.

The Southpaw has scored 110 runs in just three innings, averaging around 36.66 with an amazing strike rate of 189.65, smashing seven sixes and 11 fours, and has one half-century to his name. However, his impact in the two games out of the three has been exceptional. He has not been fully fit, and his participation remains in doubt.

Abhishek Sharma key against Pakistan

If Abhishek is fit and he gets his bat going, it will really be difficult for the Pakistan bowlers to handle him. In 38 T20Is, he has scored 1,297 runs, with an average of over 37 and a blistering strike rate of 195. Abhishek Sharma did not take the field against the USA and also did not feature against Namibia.

He was rushed to the hospital while attending a dinner party organised by head coach Gautam Gambhir in Delhi. Abhishek has dropped 2kg since being hospitalised with a stomach problem. He has been under observation and a strict diet plan, as the Men in Blue management keeps a close eye.

Abhishek would even be required to bowl in the Sri Lankan conditions, as the pitches in the Island nation are slower and extract spin from the pitches. He has been a handy left-arm spinner for the side.
